"Enriching the lives of people with disabilities in the ACT and local NSW region"
Riding for the Disabled of the ACT (Pegasus) is an iconic not-for-profit charitable organisation providing therapeutic horse-facilitated programs and activities aimed at developing abilities in people living with a disability.
The organisation serves a dual function of a State Association and a local RDA Centre and is an RDA 'Centre of Excellence'.  Pegasus operates on 100 acres on the outskirts of Canberra (in Holt) .  Training rooms, indoor and outdoor arenas, stables, yards and fences have been constructed to aid our activities thanks to the goodwill and support of the community.
Over 100 individuals participate in Pegasus' programs and nearly 300 volunteers assist with the program delivery.  In the last financial year, Pegasus delivered over 2,830 sessions.  These sessions included mounted (riding), unmounted (horse and farm management activities), Hippotherapy (physiotherapy on horseback), school holiday and early intervention.  The programs are tailored to meet the specific needs and requirements of each individual and are delivered by nationally-accredited and qualified Riding for the Disabled Coaches.
Pegasus greatly values the support of the local community in helping to keep our programs operating.  All donations over $2 are tax deductible.
