Saturday Night Gala Dinner - 22 September
Guest Speaker - Mike Rolls
We are very excited to announce that Mike Rolls will be our guest speaker for the Saturday Night Gala Dinner at the National Coaches Workshop!
Mike contracted Meningococcal Septicaemia while on an end of season football trip at the age 18 with a 5% chance of survival.  Mike's journey back to health was aided by his positive outlook, an adaptive mindset and his choice to "embrace with open arms" the many challenges that lay ahead.  Mike's message "Prepare, Survive, Thrive" is derived from his own personal adversity and research on the topic of resilience.
Mike walks his talk, he lives his message and inspires us to do the same!
Monday Workshop - 24 September
Keynote Speaker -Sue Larkey
Monday 24 September will be a full day (9.30-3pm) workshop with Sue Larkey.
We listened to your feedback and yes! Coaches want more training for managing riders with Autism.  With Autism as the fastest growing disability category at RDA Centres, you cannot afford to miss this interactive and highly practical learning experience.
Sue Larkey is a highly qualified special educator who has taught in special and mainstream schools.  Sue is unashamedly passionate about inspiring parents and educators on how to make education a success for children with an Autism Spectrum Disorder, ADHD or developmental disorder.  With practical strategies for home and school, resources and tips for managing anxiety, emotions and behaviours Sue will cater her session towards RDA as the educational setting.  How to overcome anxiety, time setting for activities, communication strategies and preventing emotional and sensory overload will be the focus of this 5 hour session.
"Having attended on of Sue's day workshops, there were so many ideas to improve the experience of our rides with Autism that my notebook was full and the 5 hours was over all too soon"
- Karen Aspery, RDA Level 2 Coach
