The period
surrounding the traditional horses birthday (August 1)
has long been designated by RDA as the time to generate greater
awareness among the community
about the work of Riding for the Disabled Association. Throughout
Australia, different centres, branches, groups and state bodies
use different methods to involve their local community: Methods
such as: Open Days, Gymkhanas, school visits, Straddle-A-Saddle
activities, demonstrations and horse birthday parties. Every
activity that brings RDA to the attention of a community member
not previously familiar withour work has achieved the objective
of Awareness Week.
